# 2 To date, the button has not been touched

Oregairu 3 Chapter two begins with Hayama talking to Hachiman about Yukino's decision and his conversation with Haruno. As part of her engagement, Yukino will return to her mother's house and Yui will help her move. While Haruno and Hachiman have a strange conversation about Yukino and the future prospects. Back in the present, Iroha goes to the volunteer club to ask for help organizing a graduation dance. After hearing her motives, Yukino agrees not to help as the club president, but as herself. Meanwhile, Yui continues to close her eyes to what she saw, although it is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore these feelings.

""You can't get drunk

Nothing is better than starting to talk about Haruno. Last week we saw that Yukino chose to follow his own path, and it was necessary to speak it out loud before his sister. Yukinon's choice doesn't surprise Haruno, he even offers his support. However, she does not seem to be entirely satisfied, the choice she was expecting was for a different situation. However, it seems that this problem is still on hold and cannot be resolved as quickly.

The conversation between Haruno and Hachiman draws attention to various things. The first is because he has to ambush him to speak alone. Haruno's personality does not allow him to let go of his guard, he must always be smarter than the others, but there is one exception, he can speak more honestly before Hachiman. Maybe it's because they're both older brothers, maybe it's because of the twisted personality of the young man that he has something that allows him to let go of his guard. Only in front of him can he see his sincere concern for Yukino and his indifference to the future.

This is the second point of interest and is intertwined with what Yukinon said earlier. Why is the result not in your interest? This does not only concern Yukinon, she has expressed it herself, it has to do with her, with Haruno and with her mother. So what can we attribute Haruno's indifference to? This is obviously because of how she was brought up.

Let me go back to the previous chapter while Yukino is talking about his wish, he mentions that he has given in because he cannot achieve this, it does not depend on her, but on his mother. At the same time, he lets us see that his mother's control over both sisters is high. Yukinon not only grew up and gave up his desires, but also Haruno to the point where he literally stopped being interested. If Yukinon succeeds, it would simply mean abandoning her and devoting herself to something else if she doesn't just continue on the path that is set for her, regardless of the outcome, because she has no attachment to her fate.

This is where the third point of interest comes into play. Haruno's inability to get drunk is an expression of his own control. Getting drunk means succumbing to a loss of senses, allowing yourself to be carried away by emotions and getting lost in them. Haruno feels impossible to achieve this state, basically because she is used to holding back for the reasons we have seen before. In the same way, he shows his final prediction before pointing out that Haruno seems to be simply abandoning his watch against Hachiman, and that may be due to a feeling of affinity. She announces that he will not be drunk either, like her he is calm and does not allow himself to be enveloped in the environment. A hard prediction, especially when you consider the feelings that flutter in the voluntary club trio.

I do it for myself

When I move on to a less dense topic, my favorite girl finally makes her entry for this season, obviously I mean Isshiki Iroha. As usual with her, her entry is of the forced type. Forcing her to be present is something she truly is quite good at. As the President of the Student Council, it is your duty to organize a party for the graduates, but she wants to keep them going. She doesn't want an ordinary party, she points to an entire party in the purest style of a typical American degree. Although I initially sought help from the volunteer club, I soon made it clear that the party would take place with or without their help.

Iroha's determination gains Yukinon's interest when he asks her why, making it clear that it is something she has to do now, even when the time is right for her. Most of all, she only does this for herself. First, Iroha tries to camouflage her feelings by saying that she is looking for the title of graduation queen, but that will be for her in up to 2 years, so why now? The reason is simple, she doesn't point to this degree, not even hers, she's thinking about next year, the year when she'll say goodbye to the senpais who have helped her so much. But for that you need to set a precedent, that's how it must be now.

Finally, Yukino agrees to help her because she identifies with her feelings, not with the completion, but by doing it for herself and the urgency to start it now. Accepting Iroha's request is her way of putting her own elections into practice, which is why she does not accept the request as club president. Yukinon tries to get up and go alone, she is nervous and worried about it, but she really tries. If we understand this, we understand that you must continue to ask for consent in your elections. If you gain more confidence, you can stop it.

A place that I cannot enter

Let the best to close this review, the announcement of a sinking ship.

At this point, it should come as no surprise that Yuigahama has feelings for Hachiman. The more time passes without being transferred, the more likely they are to end badly. Regardless of the fate of these emotions, we are concerned with the present. The emotional situation within the club has gone through a series of ups and downs, mainly because they have failed to convey the essentials. In that sense, Yui was the most sensitive of the situation. She has become painfully aware of the feelings everyone has, and at the same time has forced herself to close her eyes and look away. Partly because of her own feelings and partly because of her desire to maintain the status quo, but this has started to shatter in her.

The last scene in this episode is painful and revealing. Yui's feelings reach their limits, her own desire to look away stalls. Her true thinking is filtered, she is not a fool and she is not naive, she always knew the truth. There is something, it has no name yet, it only belongs to Yukino and Hachiman, it is exclusive and nobody can interfere. But she pretended not to see it, not knowing, because she wanted to be there too. The result of this choice is more painful than if I take it because this "something" doesn't go away and it still can't get closer.

""Where there are two happy hearts, a third will be broken"; A certain sentence, if you haven't chosen polyamory, a love triangle will always have a sad side. In the end, Yui's choice has taken her where she is, damned to lie about her feelings, pretending to be wouldn't see what is obvious and suppress her own desire. She doesn't want the original because if I decide to look away from what was in front of me, I'll give it up.

Final comment

Oregairu 3 Chapter two was a much more focused and reflective episode than the previous one. But I don't judge it badly, the calm entrance was necessary to prepare our hearts to accept the coming changes. If there's one thing I love about this series, namely character development, the introspection that it offers is a delight for the hungry viewer of a good script. It is gratifying to see that they do not choose to ignore a character's nuclear character while at the same time recognizing the growth they have had by maintaining the balance that makes them credible. There are no abrupt jumps in the script, they don't lie to us about the characters' personalities and they don't invent them. This applies in particular to Hayama and Iroha. Their participation was low, but they don't interfere with what we know about them.

Before I finish, I'll just say that I'm definitely not a fan of Yui, but I'll do my best to be fair to her from now on. By the way, I am not #TeamYukinon either, but I will still do my best to be fair, neutral and objective. Nobody asked me, but I still have it said, my favorite girl is Iroha, I don't care if she's something annoying, I want her. Unfortunately, I accepted that she never had a chance to win Hachiman, but the visual novel did me justice and I can live with it.

Anyway, those were my impressions from this chapter: What do you think about the episode? Who is your favorite girl (It doesn't matter whether he had a chance to win or not) How do you think the prom would develop? How did you feel about Yui's ending and words? Are you the type who can get drunk
