Japanese television NHK-E announced that it will air the studios' original anime PA works, Shirobakofrom next October 19th. While it is common for the series to air every year, they are generally broadcast on television channels devoted to the anime rather than NHK, a national educational channel. The news reverberated on networks that were becoming a trend in Japan.
The original 24-episode series premiered in October 2014, directed by Tsutomu Mizushima. A manga adaptation by Mizutama it was published in the magazine Monthly Dengeki Daioh from the publisher Kadokawa between September 2014 and November 2015 in two volumes.
A fictional film was then released on February 29, 2020, the Blu-ray / DVD version of which is to be released in Japan on January 8, 2021. In fact, a remastering of the film was released on August 28th. in Japanese theaters as its original release coincided with the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A "shirobako" refers to the white box into which the final tape of a film is placed, filled with the effort put into it by the entire production team and cast. Five girls have their eyes set on creating one of these boxes as they try to find success in the anime industry through writing, producing, and voice acting.
In high school, Aoi Miyamori participates in the animation club with her friends Ema Yasuhara, Shizuka Sakaki, Misa Toudou and Midori Imai. After creating an anime for the cultural festival, the girls vow to pursue their careers in the animation industry to one day work together professionally. Shortly after graduating, Aoi started working for the Musashino Animation studio and quickly learned that producing an anime is a lot more than she imagined. As she learns the responsibilities of being a production assistant, Aoi keeps in touch with her friends at the Animation Club.
