Pokemon is one of the most well-known and popular franchises in the world, at least in the field of animated and video game entertainment, and has captured millions of fans over its 26-year history. Among them is an entomologist, discoverer of a new species of cockroach, now named after one of the little monsters.

Just look at many of the designs of the now more than 1000 Pokémon to understand how the artists behind the concepts of the new little monsters was inspired by animals and insects from the real world, while for others they had complete creative freedom, creating hybrids or creatures with a unique design. In the seventh generation Pokémon video games, namely Sun, Moon and Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Game Freak first introduced the concept of Ultra World and extradimensional Pokémon.

Below is the Pokémon Grace, pheromosis, based on the insects of the order Blattodea. According to a recent update from Science Direct, entomologists and researchers Foo Maosheng and Ipis have found Lord a new genus of cockroachesand as big fans of Pokemon games and considering the resemblance to the Ultra Beast, they decided to name it nocticola pheromosa.

As shown in the following post, published by Maosheng himself, the two insects share the extraordinary Length of the antennae, a similar width of the wings, and also fairly fast movements. This isn't the first instance of Pokémon-based nomenclature. In fact, we remember the rare Australian beetles named Binburrum Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos in honor of the three legendary birds of Kanto, or even Chilicola Charizard and Bulbasaurus Phylloxyron.

Let us know what you think in the comments. Before we say goodbye we leave you a beautiful cosplay dedicated to Misty and the new trailer of the anime coming in April 2023.
