Mahouka Kouko no Rettousei 2 – Chapter 11
Angelina Shields is in the quiet of her apartment and goes through the words of Tatsuya Shiba in her head, who had offered her a retirement from her work as a soldier a few days earlier. Lina doesn’t understand the reason for Tatsuya’s words, as she is convinced that she is the only person destined to carry out Sirius’ missions, even if she has to murder her own comrades in cold blood, as she did herself. Fellow militiamen possessed by parasites. As Lina ponders, memories of the confrontation with the parasites come to mind, along with the memory of the power Tatsuya and his sister Miyuki Shiba displayed during the confrontation. These thoughts give Lina a new perspective, who now knows that she doesn’t have to bear the responsibility of being a Sirius as it can be more than just Sirius, something that she decides.
Tatsuya knows that Kuroba Ayako was responsible for the disappearance of the parasites that he and his friends had sealed up the night before. However, the reason for such actions is unknown to him. These thoughts spin in his head as he works in a cafe near the academy. Tatsuya’s rhythm of work is interrupted by Miyuki, who arrives with Mayumi Saegusa, Katsuto Juumonji and Mari Watanabe after the graduation ceremony to personally say goodbye to Tatsuya. After a few seconds their conversation can be seen. Miyuki is interrupted by Lina, who arrives in a plaintive tone due to her dissatisfaction with Tatsuya’s zero participation in the organization of the farewell party. She counteracts Lina’s complaints by mentioning Tatsuya to Lina’s passionate performance on stage. disguised as “Idol” while singing at the party, which makes Lina a little embarrassed and angry.
At the end of the school year, Shizuku Kitayama is returning from her study exchange time in North America and is received by Tatsuya, Miyuki, Erika Chiba, Leonhard Saijou, Mikihiko Yoshida and Honoka Mitsui. At the same airport where Shizuku is received, Tatsuya and Miyuki meet Lina, who is on her way to the plane that will take her back to her home country. Lina says goodbye to them and thanks Tatsuya for his support during the time they met. Tatsuya asks Lina to meet again one day, just like Tatsuya. Miyuki also says goodbye to Lina, recognizing her like his rival.
In the premises of a school there is an innocent looking girl who seems to be alone. The girl is attacked by a group of special forces who are overwhelmed by the magical skills of the girl, who manages to effectively neutralize all enemies. Soon after, it is revealed that this girl was being watched by the head and leader of the Yotsuba clan, Maya Yotsuba. Maya seems to be making a decision to choose this girl for something and orders her butler to bring her to her.
The girl introduces herself to Maya, who appears to be a servant in the Yotsuba household, and introduces herself as Minami Sakurai. Maya asks Minami to perform her services as a sorceress because she needs her on a mission to be carried out in “Tokyo Offshore”, which she describes as the first “hyperbuilding” in Japan. Maya explains a party that will be held on the top floor of the tower to celebrate the end of construction. It appears that this event caught the attention of a group of extremist activists who call themselves “Front of the New Race” and have the idea of ββusing magicians as superior beings and liberating magicians as supposed weapons from their slavery. of the war.
According to Maya’s information, this extremist group plans to attack Tokyo Offshore at the same time as the incident. It is therefore unclear whether their target is the tower or the opening party. Maya also warns Minami about certain people within the extremist group that she calls “extras”. These individuals appear to be members of other wizarding clans who have been expelled for treason or lack of skills. To end the mission report, Maya instructs Minami to attend the event as a bodyguard for her butler Hayama.
PERSONAL OPINION
In contrast to the previous chapter, this one was more relaxed, but with a lot of information and history. One of the strengths in this chapter was the evolution that Lina had as a character, as she was able to make her own decision and get rid of the burden of being Sirius.
The closing event may not have as much of an impact as other parts of the episode, but it seems relevant to me as it may mean that we won’t see Katsuto or Mayumi as recurring characters for the rest of the season.
I had already mentioned this in the previous chapter’s review, but I’m almost certain that events are increasingly pointing to the possibility that we’ll see Lina as a recurring character in the future, which makes me a little excited since Lina is a character who does this i like this season a lot.
The only complaint I have about this chapter concerns some of the music, especially in the closing scene, which has a somewhat strange background theme for the occasion. I personally don’t like this type of music, but even so, the theme actually made the scene a little uncomfortable due to the dissonance between the image and the music.
I think this chapter was the perfect way to end an arc and the opening of a new one as it gives us the prelude to a future conflict. I hope this new sheet provides more information about the Yotsuba and their true destination, as well as more about Minami and her skills as a magician.
