Chapter 2: I don’t look like you
In his lamentations, Yachiyo begins the search for his friend Iroha, at the same time he swears revenge on Magius for the damage done. Destroy rumors while the organization executes the latest plans to complete its operation, everything must go well on Walpurgis Night, says Touka. While talking to a mysterious girl who claims to be spreading the rumors, Kuroe entrusts her with a mission: to go to the rumors about the Cherry Tree of Eternity. He meets Yachiyo, who, however, meets Mifuyu, both activate the double, but the strongest wins. Magius withdraws and Kuroe pursues Kyubey, leading him to the sought-after rumor as to where Tamaki Iroha is from.
Chapter opinion
It goes without saying that the chapter is good, very good. The strange thing would be that even though I only have one observation, it’s wrong. I found the chapter a little slow. In and of itself it was focused on Yachiyo and provided additional data for the plot, yes, but I was still feeling it slowly as there is more to be said and developed and if you don’t pay attention to it the final development can be a little lazy. That is why I started to feel it because my main concern is that the ending will be rushed. I hope i’m wrong.
About him opening and the The EndWell the truth is, I didn’t feel it from the other world at all. I would say it’s typical of a Mahou Shoujo. The first is Kearesu interpreted by ClariS. The second is called Lapis, Performed by TrySail. The funny thing about the first is that Kuroe is seen saving Iroha and in the last, the tree seems to have great significance. It must have something to do with the cherry trees, the end and the beginning.
About the characters
First, I wanted to bring up the theme of the characters. There are too many characters in the anime, the truth is I don’t remember several, but what I do remember is that they were developed, not in their entirety, but a fair bit, at least to understand why they were Doing things. This surprises me, because in multi-character anime, good development is complicated. Of course, there are those who stand out more, but their roles are fulfilled very well and they do not deviate from what has already been shown to us, which gives coherence and reality (meaning). And it seems that they will continue to develop others, which I like so that in the end there will be no doubts.
Yachiyo’s problems
The chapter itself was a journey through Yachiyo’s thoughts and actions. It appears that during the denial stage of the mourning process, she was pigeonholed and denied that Iroha had died, even though everything suggested it. The self-reproach ate her too, everything for the wish she demanded: to survive. This survival is interesting because for me others have to die in what we call the law of the jungle or the survival of the fittest, only they survive.
That of strength and weakness was evident in the fight against Mifuyu: the weak unite, the strong go alone. Now that I read those too Adam SmithThis mentions that we tend to sympathize with those we resemble or, in any case, put qualities in other people who sympathize with us. Yachiyo is strong, but she does not accept Iroha’s weakness, she also wants to believe that she is strong because she is her friend and because she promised to be with her. How can a weak person protect me? That’s the problem, Yachiyo denies his weakness. I liked the approach to Yachiyo that gave it more depth.
Double for everyone!
I don’t have a problem with doubles, but I do have a problem with that it is so free to use and dangerous. Although there is an explanation for everything, the Magius are experimenting with it to “free” the Magical Girls so Mifuyu is using it, not surprising to me considering he already has his time in Magius. That Yachiyo was controlling it is understandable based on the feel and power, but it didn’t feel natural, it was too sudden. Had they been a minute, a minute longer, in which Yachiyo had psychologically debated his strength, it would have seemed better to me.
What I hope is that they don’t all have, because it wouldn’t be anything extraordinary anymore. Lastly, even if there are differences in strength, not all of them are balanced, so it is not a “broken” force.
More secrets
I would say that two powerful mysteries were presented (I would even say a third). The first: what is the cherry tree of eternity? It doesn’t seem like a simple rumor, but something else, some kind of strange reality. The fact that it is a cherry tree must be for something (besides the love the Japanese seem to have for this tree). The second is who is it? Hiiragi nemu? I revisited the previous chapter and I’m not crazy, the girl Kuroe met claimed to be Iroha’s sister. The silhouette is the same, but now it looks very different. I do not understand. And a third who can be drawn from Hiiragi, how can he spread the rumors? These are three puzzles that need to be solved.
Good chapter, I stress that I am hopefully wrong with the possible underdeveloped ending. And right, what are the Magical Girls from the other city doing? We’ll see them I think.
