The artist Sou Natsuki announced that he will be responsible for the new manga adaptation of the light novels written by Shinji Cobkubo and illustrated by Akagishi K., Sabikui Bisco ((Rust eater Bisco). The adaptation will cover the second part of the literary franchise, and the artist shared an illustration to celebrate the announcement.
Shinji Cobkubo and Akagishi K began publishing the light novels through the publishing label Dengeki Bunko from the publisher Kadokawa in March 2018. The manga adaptation of the first part was responsible for Yuusuke Takahashiand comprised a total of four compilation volumes.
The piece also inspired an anime adaptation by the studios. OZ, Headed by Atsushi Ikariya and scripts written by Sadayuki Murai, which has not yet announced a planned release date in Japan.
Synopsis by Sabikui Bisco
The story takes place in Japan after a “rust wind” has hit everything. People live in fear of the rust that attacks cities and life in general. A boy named Bisco Akaboshi from the despised “Mushroom Guardian” tribe sets out to get the “rust-eating” fungus, a wonder drug that cleanses all rust in order to save his dying master.
During his trip, Bisco meets Miro Nekoyanagi, an attractive young doctor in Imihama, and together they look for a countermeasure against the rust that is eating up Miro’s beloved older sister.
