The first quarter of the new year is always full of awards. To find out what will happen to the 2021 Oscars and the 44th Japanese Academy Film Awards, all the winners of another major event have been announced. the 24th Japan Media Arts Festival.
Established in 1997 and directed by the Government Department for Cultural Affairs of Japan, The Japan Media Arts Festival is one of the most important and prestigious annual events in the land of the rising sun, organized by a jury of critics who award a total of six prizes (one grand prize, four excellence prizes and one encouragement prize) each year for the best entertainment in four areas: art, video games, anime and manga. Below you can read the winners of the last two categories.
Anime
- Main prize: Get your hands off Eizouken!;;
- Excellence Awards: Violet Evergarden: The Movie, Miyo: a feline love, Marona’s fantastic story, Gray to green;;
- Encouragement Price: Haze Haseru Haterumade.
Manga
- Main prize: A march for lions;;
- Excellence Awards: Innocent blush, Kashikokute Yukiaru Kodomo (A wise and brave child) Hitori de Shinitai (I want to die alone) Hei no naka no biyoshitsu (The depth of the sky);;
- Encouragement Price: Golden Kamui.
The manga Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken therefore wins another major award, excellent news that adds to the much hatred the anime adaptation has received. Violet Evergarden did well too, taking home third prize in a month after those of the gods Kyoto Digital Amusement Awards is Tokyo Anime Film Festival. We remind you that only those products sold between July 2019 and September 2020 were eligible, so the Demon Slayer film could not participate.
