The case study of Vanitas is a fantasy manga by author Jun Mochizuki that was serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan Joker Magazine in 2015. Set in 19th-century France, The Case Study of Vanitas follows the adventures of Vanitas, a doctor investigating a strange curse that is making vampires more bloodthirsty than usual.

The Case Study of Vanitas also received a 24-episode anime adaptation, available at crispy roll. Studio BONES, after making a splash with the anime Mob Psycho 100, managed to capture the atmosphere of Jun Mochizuki’s work really well and received several compliments.

The case study of Vanitas Manga is not finished yet, however will be on hiatus starting June 22, 2022. On this date, the last chapter written by Jun Mochizuki will be published in Monthly Gangan Joker, who will then take some free time from his work. However, the author did not announce this Duration of the break time, which we think can be very long. Sheer lack of ideas or could Mochizuki’s hiatus be due to something else?

Definitely We wish the Japanese author all the best. The Case Study of Vanitas was also the first manga to go on Covid hiatus in 2019, shortly after the onset of the global pandemic.
