Luffy has met many characters on his journey in ONE PIECE. Some were indifferent to the Straw Hat Pirate, others took a liking to him. However, there are many characters who appeared as antagonists and therefore chose to face the protagonist. None of them died in ONE PIECE.
In fact, Luffy doesn’t kill enemies, he just destroys their dreams, at least that’s the explanation given by Eiichiro Oda. But will that still be a concrete idea in the developing situation? and if the four emperors died before the end of ONE PIECE? Let’s analyze the four characters of this group one by one to understand the situation.
Let’s start with Kaido. The emperor and captain of the pirates of the hundred beasts has long dreamed of perhaps dying like a samurai, that is, an honorable death. His ending to Wano would give the character a clear and effective sense of completion, and he is that fitter than the four to die before the end of the manga and anime. Also, this would make Wano finally break free from his yoke, which is no small feat.
Big Mom follows that after the last fight seems really in trouble. The only woman among the four emperors is certainly tough enough, but her look in the last cartoon she appeared in shows that she could be in real danger and should therefore be feared for her life. Eliminating her would allow the Straw Hat Pirates to no longer have to look over her shoulder.
Shanks the Red is an ambiguous character who seems to play on multiple fronts and whose goals aren’t really understood. He will never die at Luffy’s hands and his allies, but other events could affect him and lead to his death. His death would be cathartic for Luffy who would lose another person of value after Ace and would take him to new heights by the end of the manga.
Finally, there’s Blackbeard, probably ONE PIECE’s final enemy. His presence and the need to confront him and Luffy put him in an extreme situation where it will be necessary to eliminate him once and for all in order to reach Laugh Tale in peace.
