After spending more than half of his life on the Weekly Shonen Jump pages with his latest masterpiece, ONE PIECEEiichiro Oda has finally reached the goal of 1,000 chapters published, a number that few authors have achieved before him. On the occasion, Shueisha promised great things.
After reaching the fourth character, the sensei revealed through his message that the manga was nearing the end of the adventure. It therefore appears that Oda really wants to end the story within the next 5 years, despite fears that the end of the series could possibly be postponed due to Covid-19. For such a special occasion, the editor of the manga, Shuiesha, did not miss a massive sponsorship of the franchise, which also promoted the work on the pages of one of the most famous magazines in the world, the New York Times.
As you can see on the pages at the bottom of the news, the Japanese publishing giant commissioned two full pages of the newspaper with two great promotional illustrations. It seems that there is no accompanying article and that it is just two promotional pages created ad hoc for the occasion. But as for the manga, did you know that ONE PIECE was voted the best manga in the world by the fans?
Instead, what do you think of this collaboration between the franchise and the New York Times? Please let us know as usual with a comment below.
