During the Gundam conference 2020, Studio Sunrise, and several partners have confirmed that a life-size statue of the colossal Freedom Gundam, a giant robot, was shown in the anime series in the early 2000s Gundam Seed is Gundam Seed Destiny, will see the light in 2021 in Shanghai, China. The height should be about 20 meters.
In recent years, two Gundam statues have been made on a 1: 1 scale in Tokyo. One of them, dedicated to the Gundam RX78-2, should even be able to move and is currently being worked on in an industrial center in Yokohama, Japan’s second largest city. China doesn’t seem to want to be surpassed, and apparently the model under construction should be the tallest ever made. Further details will be announced in the following months.
The fans are obviously enthusiastic and can’t wait to see the entire work. Work should not be delayed due to Covid-19, and consequently the statue may have been completed in the first half of 2021.
And what do you think about it? Are you curious about the end result? Let us know by leaving a comment in the box below! In the meantime, we take this opportunity to remind you that the original Gundam series is simply titled Gundam mobile suit and released in 1980, it is currently available for viewing on Amazon Prime Video.
