Shortly before founding Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki focused on Nausicaä from the Valley of the Wind, a project that was very successful in theaters. There The story of the young Nausicaä is still very much appreciated today for his ecological manifesto and for the theses he carried out.

But few know that there is also one Manga by Nausicaä from the Valley of the Wind, written and drawn by Hayao Miyazaki himself. The founder of Studio Ghibli actually fell into the role of the mangaka several times, worked on this story or focused on other short stories such as Shuna no Tabi - The Journey of Shuna or the self-contained chapter Imouto E focused.

A few days ago it became known that the The Manga Nausicaä della Valle del Vento has reached over 17 million printed copies. An exceptional number considering the manga has only a few volumes, only 7, and that this makes an average of Around 2.42 million copies were printed for each tankobon. The first volume of Nausicaä della Valle del Vento appeared in Japanese comics 37 years ago in July 1983. In Italy it received an edition first from Granata Press and then from Planet Manga.

Studio Ghibli fans will still remember this story as there are various fan art works from the Valley of the Wind on Nausicaä.
