On the magazine’s official website Weekly shonen jump from the publisher Shueisha The cover for this year’s 40th edition has been unveiled, in which the manga series is written and illustrated by Ryou Nakama, Koukousei Kazoku. Nakama previously published the manga Isobe Isobee Monogatari: Ukiyo wa Tsurai me in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine between October 2013 and October 2017. The manga inspired two anime adaptations and a stage play.
On the other hand, the magazine’s release began on August 1, 1968 with a bi-weekly serialization. The publication became weekly in 1969 and has been preserved in this form to this day.
In the mid-1980s and mid-1990s, this magazine had the largest circulation, selling 6.53 million copies per week. However, in recent years that number has dropped to 1.6 million copies in 2019 due to the digitization of content. After all, Weekly Shonen Jump is listed as the world’s best-selling comic / manga magazine, having not exceeded 7.5 billion copies sold since 1968.
