The Japanese portal Livedoor news published an interview with the editor in February of this year Tatsuhiko Katayama, Editor of the manga, written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge, Kimetsu no yaiba. In this interview, the reporter mentioned "I heard that Gotouge-san is going to stop drawing for a while"To which the editor replied:"If we hadn't received approval to serialize the manga in 2015, I would probably have dropped it and Gotouge would have become a writer. So I was very impatient at the time that Gotouge gave me the official name of the work in order to finally present it. There were some suggestions like "Haniwa no Jigazagu" and "Dontsu Kazaguruma" but they were scrapped shortly afterwards.".
The interview was held on a Japanese commentary forum discussing the incredible pressure on the shoulders of author Koyoharu Gotouge with her upcoming work, which is inevitably likened to Kimetsu no Yaiba. According to the conclusions of the participants, so far there are two possible outcomes. In the first case, Gotouge decides to stop writing and is called a coward. while in the second, when he writes his new work, he is immediately compared to Kimetsu no Yaiba and probably demerged accordingly. Finally "no matter what she decides, it could go completely wrong for her". And you think you?
For his part, Koyoharu Gotouge began publishing the manga in the magazine Weekly shonen jump from the publisher Shueisha in February 2016 and finalized in May 2020. The publisher released the twenty-first compilation volume on July 3 in Japan and the twenty-second on October 2.
