During a live broadcast by the creative group on Twitter CLAMPIt turned out that the literary franchise is based on the manga xxxHOLiC has a new story arc in the works. The announcement didn't reveal any further details, but fans were asked to "be patient".

The manga was original and was published by the magazine Weekly young magazine between 2003 and 2009 and later in the magazine Bessatsu Shonen magazine between 2009 and 2011. Subsequently, the publication returned to the Weekly young magazine 2013, where it lasted until 2017, the year it took an indefinite hiatus. So far, a total of 23 compilation volumes are listed.

The work inspired two anime adaptations produced by the studios Production IG. The first season of twenty-four episodes premiered in April 2006, followed by a second season entitled xxxHOLiC Kei in June 2008 with thirteen episodes. The franchise also inspired an eight-episode live-action series produced in Japan and released in February 2013.

Synopsis of xxxHOLiC

Living alone after the death of his parents, Kimihiro Watanuki is a student who can see otherworldly creatures attracted to him. These annoyances are plagued by your days and you want to get rid of them. One fateful day, when Kimihiro is chased by a horde of ghosts, his feet lead him to a mysterious tent for refuge.

Here he meets Yuuko Ichihara, the owner of this alleged business who claims to be able to grant wishes. Yuuko offers to give him kimihiros, provided he pays a reasonable price. So Kimihiro's time begins working in her business to earn the necessary payment for her desire. In Yuuko's employment, she has to deal more with ghosts and the supernatural before she can leave this world behind. How will you fare in the inexplicable encounters that await?
