Society is constantly evolving, and as a result, it is becoming increasingly difficult to treat specific subjects with creative freedom. The same director of Your NameMakoto Shinkai, stated in a recent interview that some scenes filmed in the past are no longer welcomed by the community today.

Years after its debut, Your Name is still being talked about, just think of the recent tribute from the creator of Your Lie in April. His film, which contributed to his success as a director, underwent major changes during development and is now one of the most prolific anime in Japanese cinema. However, Makoto Shinkai took part in an interview some time ago in which he spoke about the production of the film and how certain scenes would be received today:

"I'm not going to change my style on purpose, but the tolerance of the times towards entertainment has changed a lot [...]. The scene in Your Name where Taki Tachibana touches the breasts of Mitsuha Miyamizu, whose bodies change every time they wake up, today it would be rejected. Although I thought it was a dream and it's a scene where a girl rubs her breasts, most viewers today wouldn't look kindly at it.
So from now on I also have to worry about what people think when Your Name is on TV, like on the Friday Road Show (laughs). In just six years, so much has changed as to what is and isn't a legal expression in anime.

And you, on the other hand, what do you think of his words, do you agree with the father of your name? As usual, let us know with a comment in the space provided at the bottom of the page.
