Naruto is a very long anime, ONE PIECE is even more and has almost hit the gates of 1000 episodes. To overcome them both, however, we think of Detective Conan. The anime of the detective with glasses is not the longest in Japan. In fact, there is one that has aired an incredible number of episodes.
What is the longest anime in Japan? Western fans who only have the most commercial titles like the ones listed above at their disposal are certainly not familiar with the name. But in Japan this series is very popular and it is no coincidence that it has been on the air for over 50 years. We’re talking about Sazae-san, an anime based on Machiko Hasegawa’s Yonkoma manga of the same name. The anime of Sazae-san has aired since October 5, 1969, or 52 years, and has therefore aired an impressive number of episodes.
Each episode of Sazae-san is seven minutes and the broadcaster Fuji TV has been broadcasting three times in a row every Sunday for decades. To testify the popularity of this unknown product outside of the rising sun is the collection of stock data that confirms a value of always around 20%. For its length, Sazae-san won a Guinness World Record for the longest anime in history in 2019.
On the manga front, however, Golgo 13 holds the record with 201 volumes published.
