Urusei Yatsura’s New Anime Reveals October Premiere With New Trailer

On the official site for the new anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi, Urusei Yatsurathe first promotional video of the project was released. The video confirmed that the premiere is scheduled for the season of Autumn-2022 (October-December) and unveiled two new speakers.

The anime will adapt select stories from the manga and will run for four quarters or a full year, although not necessarily consecutively. The new speakers include:

• Wataru Takagi like cherry.
• Miyuki Sawashiro like sakura.

On the other hand, Takahashi published the original manga in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Sunday from the publisher Shogakukan between September 1978 and February 1987, compilation of work in thirty-four volumes. The manga inspired a 195-episode anime adaptation released in October 1981, a series of films, and a series of OVAs.

The cast of parts will also differ from the original 1981 adaptation and is as follows:

• Sumire Uesaka as Lum, replacing Fumi Hirano.
• Hiroshi Kamiya as Ataru Moroboshi replacing Toshio Furukawa.
• Maya Uchida as Shinobu Miyake.
• Mamoru Miyano as Shuutarou Mendou.

• Hideya Takahashi (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind) J Yasuhiro Kimura (2.43: Seiin Koukou Danshi Volley-bu) will be responsible for directing the series at the studios David production.
• Yuuko Kakihara (Hataraku Saibo) is responsible for writing and supervising the screenplays.
• Naoyuki Asano (Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!) is responsible for character design and animation direction.

Summary for Urusei Yatsura

Not much is said about the horny Ataru Moroboshi, but his extraordinary bad luck sticks out like the horns on an alien’s head. When Earth is threatened by a fleet of alien invaders known as the Oni, Ataru is chosen to represent humanity in a duel against one of them. It is fortunate for Ataru that the duel is actually a game of tag and his opponent is Lum, the daughter of the Oni leader, who puts her personal dignity above victory as Ataru accidentally removes her torso and bikini and thus gets her the victory. However, misfortune strikes again when Lum misinterprets Ataru’s promise to marry his girlfriend, Shinobu Miyake, as wanting to marry Lum and decides she likes the idea. She exerts her influence as an alien princess and moves in with him.
