On the official website for the idol franchise Aikatsu!It has been announced that two cartoon series will be distributed free of charge on the YouTube channel of Bandai Namco pictures, from next August 18th.

Every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m., an episode from season one is released, while at 8:30 p.m., an episode from season three is broadcast (Aikatsu friends!). These episodes are archived on the channel for two weeks and then removed.

The franchise debuted with an arcade card game released in October 2012. The game inspired an anime adaptation that aired between 2012 and 2016, as well as three animated films. The second installment in the franchise, Aikatsu Stars !, inspired an anime adaptation in April 2016, as well as an animated film in August of that year.

The third installment is titled Aikatsu friends! Premiere in April 2018 at the same time as another arcade card game. A second season titled Aikatsu friends! ~ Kagayaki not a gem ~ Premiere in April 2018 and takes place two years after the second season. Finally the anime Aikatsu on parade! It premiered in October 2019 and included several characters from previous series in the franchise.
