The light novel editor has. Via his personal Twitter account Miki Kazuma posted some comments about the airing of the anime's final episode Toaru Kagaku no Railgun T.: "This spin-off project began in October 2017. The latest episode of Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, an exciting trilogy of seasons that followed Toaru Majutsu no Index and Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator, will end on air this end of week. We finally got on the air of the last episode after getting so deeply into the pandemic issue. Thank you all for your support!".

He continued: "But I have to tell you that I have a lot of important announcements to make this month so I am trying my best and I am very excited.It was this last tweet that sparked many rumors claiming that light novels were written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Kiyotaka Haimura, Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no index (also known as New Testament) would be adapted to anime.

Given the amount of rumors that had surfaced as fan theories, Kazuma decided to nip them in the bud with the following release: "As mentioned above, these announcements do not relate to the New Testament. So sorry…".

On the other hand, Kamachi and Haimura began publishing the light novels through the publishing label in March 2011. Dengeki Bunko from the publisher Kadokawaand concluded it in July 2019 with a total of 23 volumes.

Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no index synopsis

The Third World War came to an end after only two weeks. Both Accelerator and Hamazura Shiage have returned to the people they care about after overcoming their individual conflicts. The world is at peace and Academy City continues to be normal as the wizards focus their efforts on repairing the damage suffered from the war.

In this calm, however, someone is missing. Someone who used his right hand to save a young girl while filming the war on the move: the "Imagine Breaker", Touma Kamijou. However, the disappearance of the self-proclaimed "normal student" has not affected most of the world as the temporary peace will soon be broken as new threats, both espers and magicians, emerge worldwide. Now the heroes of World War III must go back into battle and face some of the most powerful enemies imaginable to protect the people they care about.
