The official site for the anime adaptation of Ayano Takeda and Musshu’s manga “Flower and Asura (Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku)” has unveiled the main promotional video, confirming the premiere date and offering a glimpse of the musical themes.

  • Opening Theme: “Jibun Kakumei” performed by the band SHISHAMO
  • Closing Theme: “roro” performed by Satou

The anime is scheduled to debut on January 7, 2025, in Japan.

About the Manga

“Flower and Asura” began its serialization in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine in June 2021 and continues to captivate readers. Ayano Takeda, known for her work on the renowned “Hibike! Euphonium” franchise, teams up with illustrator Musshu to bring this heartwarming story to life. Takeda’s “Hibike! Euphonium” has been a fan favorite since 2013, with multiple adaptations by Kyoto Animation.

Synopsis

“Flower and Asura” follows Hana, a resident of the small island of Tonakijima with a population of 600. Hana loves reading to the island’s children. Mizuki, the president of the school’s broadcasting club, recognizes Hana’s talent for storytelling and invites her to join the club. As Hana embarks on this new journey, she experiences many “firsts” with the members of the broadcasting club, deepening her love for reading.

Additional Details

The manga, written by Takeda and Musshu, was launched in the Ultra Jump magazine in June 2021. The first compiled volume was published in January 2022, and the seventh volume is set to release on June 19, 2024. The anime adaptation promises to capture the spirit of the manga and bring this engaging story to the screen.
