With the new comic series dedicated to the universe of war of stars, also known as The High Republic, takes readers back to a time set 200 years before the events in the prequel trilogy, when the direct confrontation between the light and dark sides of the Force and the Jedi Order was not so overwhelming was very powerful.
Based on these premises, the story develops mainly around young Padawans and Jedi knights, who, however, are exposed to mysterious threats, such as the Drengir, who has previously appeared in the comic book series of the novel Into The Dark. Drengirs are very strange creatures, gigantic plants that can manipulate the minds of young Jediand deeply connected to the dark side of power, as some of the protagonists will discover, and in a recent interview, the screenwriter Cavan Scott he wanted to present the idea that convinced him to create it.
The first thing to note is that both Scott and the other writers have always been intrigued by the idea that there are parts of the natural world that can be negatively affected by the dark side. “And I was intrigued from the idea that power could also come from attitudes and from what surrounds usand that brought it all together. And there are places that are clear and bright. But there are also dark places. And that detail would encompass everything, there would be light nature and dark nature. “ These were Scott’s words when asked about the original idea, and the author then added:
“We know this from legends and folklore. The Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant was built in a place connected to the dark sidewhat happened in the real world for many churches, built in areas where there were places of pagan belief systems. That’s why they were sanctified … I have a degree in theology, I’m interested in folklore. Something like that makes me excited. I love the idea that there is fear that the dark side of nature could reach people. “
Keep in mind that the first chapter of The Jedi Light is available online, and we’re leaving it up to the new symbiote introduced in the Screaming Citadel franchise.
