Various statements confirmed that the manga was written and illustrated by Atsushi Ohkubo, Soul eater, has exceeded 20 million accumulated copies in circulation. This count includes the original 25 volumes compiled, the seventeen volumes of the “Perfect Edition” and all published spin-offs of the franchise.

Ohkubo published the original manga in the magazine Monthly Shonen Gangan from the publisher Square enix between May 2004 and August 2013 with a total of 25 compiled volumes. The piece inspired a spin-off called Not soul eater!, which was published by the same author between January 2011 and November 2014 with a total of five volumes. The main manga inspired a 51-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios. BONE, Headed by Takuya Igarashi and scripts written by Akatsuki Yamatoya, published April 2008 in Japan.
Soul Eater Synopsis
Death City is home to the famous Death Weapon Master Academy, a technical academy run by the Shinigami, the Lord of Death himself. His mission: to breed Scythes of Death for the Shinigami to fight against the many evils of his fantasy world. However, these Scythes of Death are not physical weapons, but are born from human hybrids who have the ability to transform their bodies into “demonic weapons” and only after they have consumed the souls of 99 evil beings and the soul of a witch .
The soul eater Evans, a demonic scythe who only seems to care about the cool, strives to become a death scythe with the help of its skillful bearer or master Maka Albarn. The contrasting duo works in tandem with the impulsive Black ☆ Star and his cuddly weapon Tsubaki as well as the Shinihami’s own son, Death the Kid, a compulsive bearer of twin pistols, Patty and Liz.
