slam dunk depicts one of the sacred monsters of Japanese comics. Considered by many to be the greatest spokon of all time, the story of Hanamichi Sakuragi and the Shohoku basketball team is about to make its theatrical debut, and after initial details, the release date in Japan has finally been confirmed.
Published on the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump between 1990 and 1996 Slam Dunk has been instrumental in spreading the passion for sports, especially basketball, throughout the Japanese territory, managing to place itself in the first place among the most recommended manga for children by parents, always within the borders of Japan. It is no coincidence, therefore, that when news of the arrival of a first official film arrived, many fans returned to talk about the masterpiece.
Expectations then rose when this was confirmed Takehiko Inoue would work on the script personally. After an initial teaser and key visual spread during a basketball game at the Okinawa Arena, where a generic release timeline was set, TOEI Animation confirmed that the film will hit Japanese theaters December 3, 2022. The announcement was shared by @shonenleaks via the post you can find below, where you can also see five posters with the faces of the Shohoku holders: Akagi, Sakuragi, Rukawa, Mitsui and Miyagi.
