Chapter 3: "Steering"
In this third installment of decadenceKaburagi finds out why Natsume is on the dead list. During the accident in which his father died, the blood loss left his heart stuck for a few moments, causing the chip to fail.
Teachers and students begin their training by attacking smaller gadolls. Initially, Natsume faces numerous difficulties due to her arm, but Kaburagi gives her a new model with weapon features that encourages her to improve immediately. A large-scale underground Gadoll attack occurs in one of the battles. The floor breaks and Pipe falls on the battle stage. The young trainee starts looking for her and gets into a real fight.
Analysis: A story that takes shape
decadence It did not leave us indifferent in its second episode, in which it gave the premiere plot a complete turn. The ingredients were unexpected, daring and experimental, but also extremely interesting. Whether the project is successful from now on depends on how well you know how to incorporate the strangest elements of the script into the eyes of the beholder. And is that so? decadence He has to convince us and let us feel the subtleties of his world, wrap ourselves in it.
The series seems to go exactly in this direction in its third chapter. In general, the new rate broadened and strengthened the ideas of the previous ones. Gradually, this story takes on meaning and color, movement and music, depth.
Design, graphics and soundtrack
It is too early to notice these aspects exactly. though, in this third episode, they're already starting to appear and please. We already expected in the previous review that drawing and movement promise, even though music had not taken up any significant space. In this episode, however, a perfect connection is shown between the landscape, the actions, the soul of the characters and their soundtrack. There are Soundtracks that can attract the attention of our moody ears from the start, who dance in harmony with the ensemble and have value beyond the backdrop. I admit collectors and in decadence I have already been captured.
If I leave a more complete analysis of the character design for later, I have to point out the brilliant contrast between the virtual Kaburagi and its human avatar.
Turn a weakness into a weapon
Without a doubt, the moment of greatest intensity between Kaburagi and Natsume was retrofitting his mechanical arm. The young woman shows a happy and persistent surface, but deep down she is aware of her weaknesses and affects her self-esteem. On the contrary, his teacher shows a disbelieving and passive character while leaning against the system deep inside and emotionally clinging to what they call "mistakes" in his world.
In three chapters it was possible to paint this duality and at the same time to transform it into a cross and human relationship in which the complexity of one influences the other. In short, both are already endowed with a personality with weaknesses and strengths and above all support and improve. Natsume and Kaburagi definitely complement each other forever.
At the moment, however, the development of Kaburagi's character is more advanced, as we already know his existential torture, his trauma and his inner struggle against his own system. The reactions with pipe and that Flashbacks Whoever comes to him is an example of this enormous goodness that he keeps to himself. It is full of emotions.
Cyborgs
The development of the virtual world and its relationship to the physical deserve special attention. At this point we cannot speak of real and unreal levels, and in any case, despite all the adversity, the lie lies on the physical level.
In this episode decadence It has delved into many aspects, including - necessarily - the virtual world and its explanation. Through the regime's brochure advertising, we found out a little more and achieved a more rounded vision. Finally, we know that these artificial intelligences have taken control of the planet after the decline of humans bought and acquired by one of these cyborg companies.
Despite the color party and the childish animation of these beings, the plot takes the seriousness that it requires. Not all cyborgs can be violent metal humanoids. As viewers, we have to open our minds and pay attention to the company's ideology.
Finally
decadence meets expectations. In his third episode, he works through the depth of the story Flashbacks and other scenes that explain this post-apocalyptic future. It also develops the personality of Natsume and Kaburagi, their connection and how they influence each other.
