One of the things that sets Oda apart from many mangaka shonen is the emphasis he places on the backstories of many of his characters, and ONE PIECE Chapter 1035 is another example. You can find the newest chapter of ONE PIECE on Manga Plus.

While the fight between Zoro and King continues, let's finally take a look at the The King's Past. He and Zoro may have more in common than we could imagine.

In ONE PIECE 1035, Zoro manages to expose King with his latest attack and reveal his beautiful face. The Pirates of the 100 Beasts in attendance begin to mumble to each other as it appears that King's true appearance, revealing his race, is of interest to the government and that everyone further information is worth 100 million barry.

King is irritated by the reaction of the latter and therefore decides to set them completely on fire. Then readers could take a look at King's past. So we see a teenage version of it and we discover that his real name is Alber. He was part of the Lunaria tribe and for that he was a Subject of experiments by world government.

Kaido met Alber when he was running away from the laboratory. The future emperor has therefore decided to free the future king, and asks him to join his crew. To join the crew, the Lunarian first wanted to know if Kaido could change the world they lived in.

Kaido promptly replied that he was the only one who was able to do this and so they decided to flee together, leaving the labs completely in flames. At that moment the name King was also born, given by Kaido for its extreme strength.

It's a backstory that takes up only one page, but still manages to effectively communicate King's past, explain why he hates the government, and how he met Kaido. While this isn't the most tragic of the ONE PIECE backstories, readers can still assume that this was a traumatizing time for King, given Kaido's dialogue about "Endurance Tests".

The most notable aspect of King's backstory, however, is how reflects Luffy's first meeting with Zoro. contrary. The captain met the swordsman while imprisoned by Hellmeppo in Shell Town.

Zoro had made a deal with the naval captain's son: he would be handcuffed for a month without food or water as punishment for killing Helmeppo's wild dog, but in return the little girl Rika would be rescued. Just like Alber and Kaido, Zoro was tied up and Luffy was about to begin his pirate career.

The rubber man meets the so-called bounty hunter "pirate hunter" Zoro and finally frees him when Hellmeppo and Morgan have shown that they do not want to stick to the deal. Despite their different philosophies and different characters It is interesting to note that the first two members of this legendary pirate crew met under very similar circumstances.

This probably won't be the last time we see King's past since we know Oda too Kaido will have his flashback at the end of the Wano saga and Oda can't wait to draw the final scene of this long ONE PIECE saga. Both the king and queen are likely to play a role in the emperor's past.
