On the official site for the multimedia franchise of one piece that was reported One piece movie red has surpassed 14.94 billion yen (over US$103 million) to over US$10.72 million in Japanese theaters as of September 19. It surpassed the film by that number makoto shinkai, Tenki no Ko (weathering with you), becoming the seventh highest-grossing anime film in Japanese history and thirteenth overall.
One piece movie red opened in Japanese theaters on August 6th. The film ranked number one at the Japanese box office in its opening weekend, selling 1.58 million tickets and 2.25 billion yen (about US$16.7 million) in its first two days. The film earned 78% more than the previous film in the first two days. One Piece Stampedein the first three days (Stampede premiered on a Friday, unlike Film Red’s Saturday premiere). It has become the highest-grossing and best-selling film sequel in the franchise, both by number of tickets sold and yen earned at the box office.
