The two parallel series X Lives and X Deaths of Wolverine have come to life. History has seen so far the debut of a new Logan called Omega Wolverine, whose only goal seems to be to assassinate Moira MacTaggert. With the release of X Deaths of Wolverine #4, Marvel has revealed Omega Wolverine’s backstory.
With the announcement of the two miniseries, Marvel had promised to turn the claw mutant’s life upside down, and it seems intent on living up to its word. While Wolverine is on a mission through several historical eras, a second Logan has entered the scene, Omega Wolverine who, a bit like Terminator, came from the future with the goal of tracking down and killing Moira MacTaggert.
This Wolverine, powered by the Techno-Organic Phalanx Virus, it comes from a future where humans and mutants were slaughtered by a new race called Post-Humanity. X Deaths of Wolverine #4 reveals that Moira is the cornerstone of the rise of posthumanity, and so on His assassination by Omega Wolverine is necessary to save the future.
While Omega Wolverine turned out to be basically good, Moira has become a real villain for the mutants who go so far as to kill Banshee and mutilate his face in order to sneak into Krakoa. At the end of X Deaths of Wolverine #4 anyway Omega Wolverine manages to achieve his goal and kill Moirabut not before being hit by a bullet that can rob him of his regenerative powers and deliver him to the Phalanx Virus.
X Deaths of Wolverine #4 is already available in the US. Only one number is missing End of X Lives and X Deaths by Wolverine. The conclusion of the two miniseries sets the stage for the relaunch of Destiny of X’s mutant warheads, arriving in March.
