Minoru Minetaalso known by his alias Fresh-Picked Hero: Grape Juice, has often been a point of contention among fans of My hero academy. Many see the character as annoying within the series due to his perverted attitude, in which he regularly harasses female heroes with his shamelessness.
While Mineta’s powers have proven useful at times, they are hardly impressive compared to the rest of her classmates. Worse, Minoru would repeatedly freak out when in an awkward situation, resulting in him using his Quirk recklessly or crying uncontrollably. This led Many MHA fans are wondering how Mineta managed to pass the UA entrance exam and study at Japan’s top hero academy.
In Episode 4, “Start Line”, Midoriya and the other prospective students are tasked with completing a 10-minute mock fight in an urban setting to test their fighting skills. You are informed by Hizashi Yamada, Present Mic, that there are three types of fake criminals, each with a different level of difficulty. Whoever manages to collect the most points will pass the exam and they become students of UA.
Many of the main characters of the series are featured in this episode and shown destroying many villain robots. But, Mineta would never appear until episode 5“What can I do now,” and this has fans puzzled as to how he managed to deal with these gargantuan foes.
Mineta’s Quirk, Pop Off, allows him to produce and tear spherical objects from his head. He often uses them as projectiles that attach themselves to any surface he throws them at, incapacitating his opponents by blinding or immobilizing them. Minoru can use his Quirk repeatedly; However, if you use it too often, it will start bleeding from the scalp.
So while Mineta’s Quirk can be useful, it is often situational and used in conjunction with the powers of those around it. Rather than leading from the front like Midoriya, Todoroki, or Bakugo, Mineta’s quirk works best when acting in a supporting role.
It’s even stranger that Mineta alone was able to defeat enough robots to pass the UA entrance exam. The creator of MHA, Kohei Horikoshi, addressed the question of Mineta’s exam and silenced the questions fans have been asking since the beginning of season one.
Horikoshi commented that “His Quirk [di Mineta] it’s actually pretty strong. The goal in the entrance exam was to disable robots in this way Mineta has her balls attached to the floor and wallsessentially placement fall that would immobilize the robots. He also cut their weapons with his Quirk.”
In the end it was her quick thinking and understanding of the potential of his quirk which allowed Mineta to succeed in the UA entrance exam. Despite not being as fast as Izuku or as strong as Todoroki, Mineta managed to devise a winning strategy without panicking.
Probably MHA fans They will continue to blame Mineta’s careless ways and they will be irritated by his overreactions. Perhaps, however, the little fella deserves a little more credit when it comes to the power of his quirk and his ability to harness it to the full. Eventually, he studies at one of the most prestigious hero institutions and manages to stay in the first half of his class while pulling himself out of some sticky situations.
