On the occasion of the 51st edition of Pride Month, which is slated for June, Marvels Comics has officially launched one new superhero from the LGBTQ + community, the second in a few months after the introduction of the new homosexual Captain America in the miniseries The United States from Captain America. The name of the new character is Somnus, "the hero of dreams".

Somnus will make its debut in Marvel's Pride, a new one-shot released by the House of Ideas to celebrate Gay Pride. The comic will feature many stories written by authors close to the LGBTQIA + worldand as expected last April, it will also include the new character created by Steve Orlando and designed by Luciano Vecchio.

""Somnus, Carl Valentino, is inspired by my personal story and my experiences with previous generations of LGBTQ + people"Orlando said."To date there is still a lot to do, but we have also made great strides and Somnus turned out to be a great opportunity to share how many other people have lived through more difficult timeswhen there was more prejudice and less tolerance". Luciano Vecchio continued by stating:"I am very happy to finally be able to work with Steve and immediately fell in love with the idea and the story of Somnus. Marvel's pride really allowed me to work on some dream assignments!".

Somnus is described as a superhero who is able to control other people's dreams but unable to achieve his own. We can see him in action in Marvel's Pride # 1, scheduled for release on June 23, 2021 in the United States.
