The new visual for the anime features the new character Serafina, who the anime describes as “another protagonistβ. In the original game Shiloh is the standard English name of the male lead, while serafina is the standard English name of the female lead. Although they do not differ in the game (The player chooses a male or female protagonist at the beginning of the game), the character’s announcement hints at a new portrayal of Serafina in the anime.

Legend of Mana is set in the fictional world of Fa’Diel. The Mana Tree, which gives mana and life to the world, was almost burned to the ground nine centuries before the events of the game. A war broke out between fairies, humans, and others, demanding what little mana remained. When the war ended, the burnt mana tree slumbered while it regrown, and the many lands of the world were preserved in ancient artifacts. A hero controlled by the player is tasked with restoring the world and mana to its former state.
