Jujutsu Kaisen is the most profitable Japanese franchise of 2021, with 14.8 billion yen raised in just six months (about € 113 million). Gege Akutami’s work therefore managed to outperform Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, staying at 14.2 billion yen and replacing all other components of the top 30 by at least 10 billion.
Below you can check out the official results as you can see crown the Akutami series as the queen of those first six months. Demon Slayer defends himself very well, among others, while Tokyo Revengers, Attack of the Giants and Haikyu !! complete the top 5 with slightly more modest numbers. Unfortunately, it’s not clear whether the list in question only takes into account the anime / manga sales or even the merchandise and the various collaborations, but in all cases we’re talking about exceptional numbers.
Jujutsu Kaisen currently tops most of the streaming sites in Japan thanks largely to extraordinary adaptation by Studio MAPPA. The anime will return with a prequel movie in the winter, while the manga continues to have great sales. An incredible and unexpected success for one of the most popular dark fantasy works of the past five years.
