Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot from the day of release, it has proved to be an inexhaustible source of information thanks to the impressive number of goodies and curiosities hidden by the boys of CyberConnect2. One of these concerns nothing less than the latest transformation of Vegeta, or that of the Super Saiyan God shown in Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
The shape of the Super Saiyan God first made its appearance in the film Dragon Ball Z: The battle of the gods, and from that day on it was used only by Goku. In the anime series Vegeta never unlocked the power up in question, until, curiously, he decided to use it to test Broly’s strength in the last film of the saga.
In the manga the situation is a bit different, since Vegeta decided to show the power up for the first time during the narrative arc of Goku Black, alternating continuously between the Blue and the basic form to save stamina. The differences between anime and manga, however, are manifold, since we remember that in the paper work Goku did not even use the Super Saiyan Blue form with the Kaioken.
So how did Vegeta unlock the power of Super Saiyan God? Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot revealed it in the trailer for the video game’s first DLC. The prince of the Saiyans in fact would have decided, during a training session with Whis and Beerus, to bring with him Goku, Gohan, Trunks, Goten and Trunks of the Future, in order to complete the ritual and unlock the transformation.
