The Soul Society miraculously escaped the invasion of the Wandenreich of Yhwach. However, the Sternritter attack brought death and destruction to Seireitei, forcing Gotei 13 into a major re-foundation. Two captains collide with one deadly battle from which only one will emerge alive.

While Ichigo and Renji find themselves in the presence of the Zero Division at the Royal Palace while the Soul Society desperately tries to regroup to withstand the next, inevitable attack from Yhwach.

With the death of Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, the Gotei 13 needs a new general commander. This very important role is assigned to Shunsui Kyoraku, whose first task is to train Kenpachi Zaraki in the art of Zanjitsu.

Kyoraku entrusts this responsibility to Captain Unohana, who challenges Zaraki by pushing him to exceed his potential. In the Muken, in the middle of the fight, we discover the past of the two captains. In Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War 1×09, the sin of Unohana comes to light.

Before I’m the friendly captain of the 4th division, Unohana was the commander of the 11th Division of the original Gotei 13. Back before she acquired her medical skills, she was known for her techniques of violence and assassination. The Gotei 13’s first kenpachi therefore challenges the current kenpachi, who must become more powerful in a battle where the honor of his name is at stake. The challenge between the two ends with the release of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War 1×10.
