The first episode of Attack of the Giants 4 is far from user-friendly and could confuse even those preparing for the final season with a complete remake of the series. What happened in the first episode, who are the two forces we saw fighting, and where are Eren and his companions? We try to answer in the simplest possible way.
Before we talk about the episode in question, it is necessary to have some context and for this reason we need to go back and Re-explore some key moments from season three. Of course, it is impossible to summarize all the revelations of recent seasons in a few lines. We therefore assume that we will skip some of the less important passages to make the reading more fluid.
First in season 3 It is revealed that the giants were born to one person, a little girl named Ymir Fritz. Thirteen years after gaining power from the giants, Ymir loses his life and his power is inherited by nine “Eldians,” the men of his line. The Eldians use their new power to conquer land and expand their domain, but due to the so-called “Curse of Ymir” they lose their lives after 13 years.
The Eldians also conquer Marley, one of the most powerful nations of all time, however Their empire begins to become unstable when the nine owners of the Shapeshifting Giants collide. Internal friction convinces Marley to respond, and due to the unexpected war, the Eldians lose seven of the nine shapeshifters. The Eldians then retreat to the Isle of Paradise and King Karl Fritz makes an agreement with Marley: The Eldians would be confined to the island, which is hidden in a huge wall, and Marley would have given up attacking them. In order not to cause conflict, the king uses the power of the founding giant to erase the memory of the residents.
That goes without saying All events of the first three seasons take place on the islandand that the residents are, in fact, Eldians, forced to almost start from scratch, with no technology or other means of development. The giants, on the other hand, are the former Eldians who stayed in Marley, were transported to the island by armed forces and transformed every time a death sentence is passed.
In the third season finale Eren and his company uncover the truth in Geisha Jaeger’s basement, one of the Eldians trapped in Marley during the conflict, and father of Eren, who miraculously managed to reach Paradise after escaping judgment. On the Isle of Paradise, the man married Carla, gave birth to Eren and then gave him the power of the attack giant. Season 3 ends with a one-year time jump.
So here we are in season four. A three year jump in time reveals how Marley’s army is busy defeating another hostile alliance, the Middle East. After Marley occupies Fort Slava, he finally has full control of the seas and can attack Paradise. The reason Marley wants to break the truce is because of the loss of some shapeshiftersThe giant woman (Annie Leonheart) and the colossal giant (Bertholdt Hoover) were sent undercover to paradise because of a failed internal operation.
The now grown-up Reiner is about to end his 13 years and will soon be replaced, as will Zeke Jaeger, the giant animal. The four children shown below are the possible successorswho Marley chooses not to sacrifice in combat, unlike the other former Eldians who are used as suicide squads.
