The attack of the giants 4 changed the style of the anime’s final seasons, thanks in particular to the transition from WIT to MAPPA. The latter had to work in a hurry to meet the deadlines, and there was no shortage of TV-related bugs and tricks, all things that were fixed in the home video edition.
Overall, Part 1 of the final season of Attack of the Giants was anything but a failure. Of course the team worked under precarious conditions, and director Hayashi seems to blame the aftermath of a disrupted production himself, but all in all, given the very tight deadlines, the end result was a miracle.
Anyway, for home video output Study MAP study brought gods significant improvements to the animated series Removing the censorship and blurring effect in certain scenes, improving the visual quality by applying additional effects, or completely redrawing some previously hastily created frames.
