In recent years, Makoto Shinkai has become one of the most followed directors in the industry, celebrated by both critics and animation fans alike. His latest project Suzume no Tojimari has garnered excellent box office results, but the artist doesn't seem to have any intention of stopping and is already eyeing the release date of the next film.

during one brief meeting with fans at the premiere of Suzume no Tojimari, Shinkai himself has actually grappled with the question of production times and admitted with a certain composure and determination that the next film will be released in three or four years. A temporal distance is also maintained with regard to his latest films. In fact, starting with Garden of Words released in April 2013, the production rate of Shinkai and the Team of animators and artists from the studio CoMix Wave Filmsfor a film it was about three years.

The Q&A session then gave way to more personal topics and interests. As you can read in @gaak_fr's post at the bottom of the page, Shinkai admitted that he really likes slam dunk by master Takehiko Inoue, one of the greatest in the spokon genre, to then reveal his favorite dish, namely natto, fermented soybeans, and his favorite French film, namely Almost Friends.
