Princess Connect! Re: Dive - Final Chapter: Lost Princess
In Princess Connect! Re: Dive - Final chapter, after being separated, ending Kokkoro in the castle, he meets Pecorine. Who tells him his real name, in addition, to tell him his past, since, under the circumstances, it was inevitable to continue hiding it. Despite having heard everything Pecorine had to say, Kokkoro keeps her company, stating that he will always be with her, just like Yuuki and even Karyl.
Karyl, meanwhile, faced the Shadow in a large place near where Pecorine and Kokkoro were. However, she could not defeat him, but Pecorine and Kokkoro came to support him. Still, all of them continued to be in trouble because of the situation. Meanwhile, Yuuki knew a little more about his past. Determined to help her companions with the power she has. Even if you have been warned of it.
Yuuki arrives just in time as reinforcement for her companions. Cooperating all members of the ‘Gourmet Guild‘Together they manage to defeat the Shadow. To be later taken to the same restaurant where they were earlier. Being received by all the people they saved that same day from the Shadow's attack.
Curiosities of Princess Connect! Re: Dive - Final Chapter
This being the last episode of the series, I was already waiting for him with enthusiasm and sadness. However, there were several things I did not expect to see during this chapter. Some that surprised me and others that left me more doubts.
Starting with what surprised me most, the appearance of Christina once again. In itself that was not the most surprising thing, but, his group ‘Nightmare‘Is made up of the knights of the kingdom. Or at least that's how I understood it. Perhaps not everyone is involved. The citizens mentioned the name of this group when they saw the knights arrive, among which were the three new female characters: Tomo, Matsuri and Jun. Of which I will not speak due to the little screen time they had.
Going back to Christina, what surprised me most about her is that, speaking to herself, she mentioned with a tone of "suspicion" about her majesty's race. Which led me to believe that Christina has actually always been good, but currently works a "double agent" job. Following His Majesty's orders not to raise suspicions, but without having complete loyalty.
Once again, maybe I'm over-thinking things. Well, his personality could also influence his behavior regarding following his majesty's orders. But a part of me sees a little light in this character.
As for the things that happened in Princess Connect! Re: Dive - Final chapter that caused me more doubts, it is once again what Yuuki involved and the power ‘Princess knight‘. Since being a great power, it could also affect the wearer. But, the main thing of all for which I still have questions, is because Queen Labyrinth (the crepe vendor) mentioned that Yuuki is her ‘Princess knight‘. This part I feel is far-fetched, and possibly is, however it reminded me of my early theories about this power in the early anime. Where I believed that power was granted to people by some deity. Ameth at first, but now it could be different. Even Queen Labyrinth herself could have some sort of divinity.
Now it sounds more elaborate and far-fetched, but there is a key point that makes me believe this theory makes sense. This key point is remembering a previous episode, where Metamorregnant appears. Who had a short chat with Queen Labyrinth (the "name" of the crepe vendor), in which the main theme was Princess Eustania. Being that said princess is really Pecorine. Who has shown traces of power similar (or even the same) as a ‘Princess knight‘.
All this will remain in simple personal theory, at least until you can play Princess Connect! Re: Dive Or there is a second season where they give more details and clues about that power.
An endless journey
The main plot of Princess Connect! Re: Dive It seemed to me somewhat uncertain, because with the introduction of so many characters and events / events linked to these, it did not seem that it was going to show a very deep plot. Although there were cases when he could have, such as the bow that never came from Karyl.
So, seeing that Princess Connect! Re: Dive - Final chapter if it showed a deeper plot was quite satisfying and enjoyable. Giving greater emphasis to the past of the protagonists, mainly Pecorine in this case. Exhibiting his past and how he ended up where he is now, in the ‘Gourmet Guild‘. Although, to be honest, that's not enough to say that the plot ended up being pretty deep.
Yes, it increased in intensity, but not as much as it would have if they had also shown Karyl and Yuuki's. Well, even though they had their moment to shine, they never managed to do it. Not even in Princess Connect! Re: Dive - Final chapter where they only mention their cases a little above. If they had animated it with more scenes and not just "images" I feel that the plot, created from the development of the characters, would have had a great leap. Gaining more interest from the audience.
Speaking of character development, there were so many characters appearing in the series that I will limit myself to speaking only of the protagonists, the members of the ‘Gourmet Guild‘. Personally, I feel that they did have development, however, it was very slow, becoming very inconspicuous for many. For example, Kokkoro had a development talking about how being entrusted with the task of being with Yuuki helped him leave the place where he never believed he would. How that helped her in more than one way so as not to feel "chained". Same case as Karyl, who when being with Pecorine, Kokkoro and Yuuki began to change his way of being and thinking. Exhibiting his true personality.
Pecorine was a mystery throughout the anime, starting from his name. But he had a great background in Princess Connect! Re: Dive - Final chapter with everything that appears in the episode. Giving it the development it seemed it wouldn't have to keep its mysterious side.
As for Yuuki, he didn't expect much from this character. Mainly because of the fact that it seemed, Princess Connect! Re: Dive I'd be more focused on female characters. And it was much of the time. However, Yuuki certainly had a great character development, counting that at the beginning he bit bites. Little by little it began to take more prominence. Although, unlike Pecorine and Karyl, they are more linked to the plot that the series follows. While Yuuki's past is more linked to events “before” or “after”. Of that I still have my doubts about the possibility that it is an alternate future.
I think they had a slow but adequate development in the characters.
Technical details
This section was the best of all the adaptation of Princess Connect! Re: Dive. Being encouraged by Cygames Pictures. Showing a great quality in the animation, from all possible parts. From the detailed in the scene environment, to the details in the abilities and magic shown throughout the series. Without neglecting the design of the characters, with its large number of different expressions in each one. While this may have already been shown in the eponymous game, they didn't lose any quality in the animation. Although the style may be different.
Another impressive part of this anime was its sound section. With great themes that brought me into the environment of many scenes, they were fun, action or even drama. As it was in Princess Connect! Re: Dive - Final chapter while Pecorine told Kokkoro about his past. The musicalization of that scene kept me up all the time with a pressure on my chest. Letting me know beforehand that drama and sadness would come with the story of the princess's past.
I also loved all the sound effects, because I feel that they had a perfect touch with the tones and styles of these in each of the possible situations. Of the distribution of seiyuus I can only confess that it is surprising due to the large number of characters in Princess Connect! Re: Dive. Most female.
The opening and ending for me fell short of this series. What to be of Fantasy he spent a long time next to the Comedy onscreen. Not as much as the notorious KonoSuba!. Even though both anime have shared director. If I had to choose one as my favorite, it would be the opening.
Speaking of the opening, characters appear in his animation that never appeared in the adaptation. Or maybe they did, but only as a kind of cameo in the background of a specific scene. For example, the “stalker” of the ‘Gourmet Guild‘. That girl of the elven race who could be seen in the background in more than one scene throughout the anime. In fact it appears once again, at a closer distance during the last few minutes of Princess Connect! Re: Dive - Final chapter.
Final opinion
Princess Connect! Re: Dive it was a great anime for this spring season 2020. I'm not saying it's the best of the season, but I do think it was a gem of the season. Mainly for its brightness in the animation and sound section. There may be more than one do not believe it or even believe it because several anime of that season were suspended due to the emergency situation that Japan was going through at that time.
However, personally, I think that many of the large series with which it could compete did maintain their broadcast: Kaguya-sama: Love is War S2, My Next Life as a Villainess, Brand New Animal, Gleipnir, Tower of God, etc. All these series had their great highlight in the season for one thing or another, however, to be able to compare it with Princess Connect! Re: Dive you should start with its main genre, the genre of Fantasy and separate it from those linked to Isekai. In the end, even taking into account those who had their broadcast suspended that season, Princess Connect! Re: Dive it would have stood out in its genre. Although not in the first place, after all it competed against the adaptation of the manhwa Tower of God.
That is why, my personal rating for Princess Connect! Re: Dive it is 8.5 / 10. And it would be better if they had only shown a deep plot from early in the series, as it seemed like it would only be small pieces of what you could see in the main plot. Only giving hints of this plot and not showing as many waifus just to show.
This anime would definitely recommend it, due to its technical aspects. As well as the fact of the large number of potentials waifus that appear in the anime. Of course, many could have been "omitted" or summarized their scenes to give more time for the main plot to appear.
This series could take either of two paths: Survive with the appearance of pure waifus, thanks to the large amount they have. Without such a complex plot, with enough comic moments (as he was doing much of the time); Or focusing more on the main story and showing only the waifus essential to get to the end.
What disappointed me most about this series is that it did not bring an announcement to make the game globally available. Something that I really expected and still am waiting for.
