Majo no Tabitabi – Chapter 11: The Two Apprentices
After 20 years, the Curio Company reappears in Qunorts, so rumors about the danger to witches are circulating. When Elaina hears her, she decides to go out as a tourist and leave anything that makes her look like a witch. Visiting a large number of locations as the City of Freedom is set for one of the stories Nikeh wrote in one of his books.
For her part, Saya arrives in Qunorts to deliver the box she should bring. But before she reaches her final destination, she is distracted by a saleswoman who warns her of the danger of witches running around the place and tries to sell her items in her defense. Leaving this area, she is captured by her younger sister Mina, who is on an infiltration mission. Warn Saya of the dangers that could be.
The seller was the head of the Curio Company, which was unable to steal the box that Saya was carrying and used a tool to transform her body. The other affected person was the absent-minded Elaina who was checking out the cafeteria mentioned in Nikeh’s book. . When the two change bodies, Elaina opens the box and creates a smoke that affects all villagers who have smelled it. Also includes Mina, who passed out after Elaina hit Saya’s body.
Elaina leaves the alley where she was and finds her own body. She discovers that Saya is the one who occupies him and vice versa. The Curio Company takes advantage of the excitement and starts robbing all sorts of businesses until they are stopped by Saya and Elaina and question them to find their leader. To defeat them too and not worry about their henchmen who were still free as this problem had been resolved with the arrival of Fran and Sheila.
An island beyond the horizon
The plot in the story of Majo no tabitabi – Chapter 11 interested me because of the introduction of a “criminal” group with suspicion of magical users, as this is not the case with its members. However, they carry tools that are capable of confusing and / or dealing with those with magic. Something that could give the entire plot from a central antagonist Majo no tabitabi. And not necessarily from the head of the Curio Company, but from who is behind the manufacture of these tools.
And in Majo no tabitabi – Chapter 11 vaguely mentions the place they come from. A place I imagine when I meet Elaina because it is also written in the story of Nikeh and tells the events that took place 20 years ago. But the same thing also makes me suspicious, along with other details that could result in the central plot having much more dramatic touches. So I could imagine the development the plot could have if it were more dramatic. But what if we go over some of the details again is unlikely. That is why I rejected this idea.
However, that doesn’t remove the fact that ‘the sila beyond the horizon’ doesn’t seem curious to me. But with Elaina’s personality, I doubt I’ll go there. Although, who knows, her goal of making her adventures longer than five volumes may take her to places Nikeh hasn’t gone but mentioned.
In any case, I really think the existence of these tools could bring an antagonist into the whole of the plot. To be honest, the series lacks that touch to make the most of the world the series is in. A magical one. I would be satisfied even if Elaina wasn’t facing the antagonist.
Same mentality?
While in previous chapter It seemed to me that Elaina had discovered her greatest problem and weakness in Majo no Tabitabi – Chapter 11 does not show that this event took place. Once again, Elaina doesn’t want to get involved in something that seems bothersome, hoping to be just a bystander. To be more than that by being specifically involved.
Of course, there is still a chance that you’ve changed your mindset, or at least become much more aware of it. If you don’t want to find out who Fran-Sensei’s teacher is because you feel like you are losing your “freedom”, maybe that’s why.
From the start of the series, Elaina couldn’t be honest with herself when it came to important things, something Fran-Sensei had shown her back then and which she mentions in Majo no tabitabi – Chapter 11. But like I said. I think Elaina became more aware of her own way of thinking. To the point that he’d want to keep it as a mask covering up his own weakness.
To be honest, it was disappointing to see Majo no tabitabi – Chapter 11 and notice that Elaina has retained the mentality I thought she was in the past. At first glance, his character seemed to have lost all development that he had achieved. However, her last conversation with Fran-sensei saved her. Of course, he didn’t make it all the way because I still have a bad taste in my mouth that it’s just a scene that shows signs that its evolution hasn’t been lost.
As for the other characters they appeared in Majo no tabitabi – Chapter 11 stayed the same. With the exception of Mina, as this is the first time they present it, it is only mentioned above. So I can’t say that his character developed as such. But I can confirm that I wasn’t disappointed that this was his presentation. In a chapter where you could see his side siscon, a bit sadistic and with great moments Yuri. That doesn’t mean, of course, that I would have liked to see it in a much more serious setting, without so much comedy. Like something similar to Sheila, for example.
Incidentally, I liked that the episode title can refer to three different things. The first and most important would be the roles of Elaina and Saya. Although I also think it’s perfect for Saya and Mina who were Sheila’s two apprentices. As well as the evidence (confirmations) that Sheila and Fran were the apprentices Nikeh had 20 years ago (only under different names).
The next episode will be the last in the series, so I can’t say I’m excited to see it. However, Majo no tabitabi – Chapter 11 seemed like a farewell to the series so I hope the next episode will be relatively calm. Also, of course, I hope they confirm a sequel to the series, though I have my doubts that if it does exist, it will be in another season. Finally, with the large number of stories skipped in the adaptation, there will be some interesting enough to watch OVA or even in a movie.
