Chapter 17

Kakkou no Iinazuke Chapter seventeen begins with a plan for a study camp. Although it was originally planned for Sachi to attend, she ended up falling ill and unable to walk, leaving room for Shion to join the group. The exciting camp begins with a pseudo-alliance between Nagi and Shion, allowing both of them to cooperate and spend alone time with the girl they like. In the beginning everything goes well, Nagi shares a moment with Hiro and Shion the same with Erika, she even almost explains herself but she spoils it. Back at home, Shion tells Nagi about his failure and a little relieved, and without knowing why, Nagi finally says that he confessed to Hiro a long time ago. Later, Shion suggests a dare to find alone time again, but Erika forestalls him and asks to go with Nagi. Hiro alone suggests Shion help him with Erika.

Chapter 18

Kakkou no Iinazuke Chapter eighteen begins with Nagi trying to scare Erika because she thinks the test is scaring her, when in fact she's nervous about not wearing pantyhose. After clearing up the misunderstanding, they both arrive at the sanctuary and Erika thanks him for coming into her life. For their part, Shion and Hiro retire from the exam and all meet back at the house for dinner. At Nagi's request, they all go to the meteor shower, but Nagi leaves without warning because she finds out that Sachi is in the hospital. The next day, he receives Erika at home and waits for her to tease her, but they don't come, making Nagi aware that she knows nothing about Erika. For his part, Hiro thinks about the photo he found at the summer house, which also worries Erika. Nagi wants Erika to finally reveal who she's looking for.

the alliance camp

These two episodes focused on the study trip, which ended up being just a friends' trip because they weren't studying at all. The relevance of this camp, however, lies in the alliances that have formed, those temporary and those that may lie in the future. Our first alliance is of course that of Nagi and Shion. Though hesitant at first, Nagi agreed to team up with Shion to spend time with Hiro. The interesting thing is that this unintentionally aroused some emotions in him, because he didn't like believing that Shion had proposed to Erika. Though that wasn't stimulating enough to break their alliance. But for better or for worse, that didn't bear fruit because his goal was only achieved in a single first moment.

The second alliance might actually be the most interesting, because in an unexpected way, Hiro stepped forward to help Shion join Erika. It was clear from the start that Hiro's intention was to erect a clear wall between Erika and Nagi, making it increasingly clear that Hiro has more than a simple interest in the young man. However, in episode 18 we discover that she saw the photo, which we appreciate that Erika and Nagi have a deeper bond than we realised. This has Hiro thinking about continuing his alliance with Shion, telling us that he intends to think about his feelings, not just for Nagi but for Erika as well. We mustn't forget that as Erika's friend, she also wants the best for her.

A bomb to explode

The photo, deliberately left at the summer house, hit like a bomb. We don't yet know what tells us about Erika's father's impatience, why he is so impatient. What is clear is that Erika and Nagi have a deeper bond than previously thought, and this could be related to the person Erika is looking for. Recall that she said that knowing who this person is could change a lot of things. Anyway, we're reaching the final stage of this anime and not only is Erika's father getting impatient, so are we.

After leaving camp and running to the hospital with Sachi, Nagi feels like she's made a mess again. But to his surprise, Erika doesn't make fun of him, on the contrary, she encourages him. This makes the young man feel absent as he understands he has a great support network, something Erika doesn't have. There's too much Nagi doesn't know about her and it's about time she told him. The first thing that comes to mind is to face the situation of the person you are looking for. After all, that's their biggest secret and, in a way, what led to the collaboration they maintain.

Anyway, the response time is coming. Nagi and Erika owe a few disclosures, and Hiro is also about to come up with his own answer about his feelings. So we need to be aware of two questions, who is Erika looking for and if Hiro chooses to work with Shion.

Final comment

Kakkou no Iinazuke Chapters 17 and 18 were very funny and fascinating episodes. On the one hand, we had very dynamic moments when our protagonists interacted. While important revelations were broadcast at the same time. There is no doubt that these chapters were an interesting back and forth of experiences as they made us have fun in an entertaining journey without separating the emotions from the latent feelings between them. Also add the revelations that have arisen regarding the past.

As a personal detail I would like to mention the scene in which Nagi and Erika are in the temple. The atmosphere between the two is very casual and the moment they share their mutual gratitude for being in each other's lives seemed precious to me. I also found Erika's playful flirtation with Nagi the funniest and most charming. It's a matter of taste, but I personally like Erika a lot more than Hiro, so I find more chemistry between her and Nagi, especially when flirting like that happens. I'm not denying that Hiro and Nagi's moment at the lake wasn't nice, but I just don't like it, something was missing.

As far as the review, as you may have noticed, TaeMa couldn't bring you a review this time. On this occasion I'll help you a little, although I apologize since I obviously don't follow the series at all. Anyway, I'll leave you with the usual questions: what do you think of these chapters? Which team do you bet on? Are the revelations coming to an end?
