Chapter 9: "Meifuku, the Meioju"

This week in Hanyo no YashahimeThe three half-demon princesses face one of the four threats, Konton, which was commissioned by Jyubei. At first, Setsuna and Towa don't want to leave, but they quickly change their minds as they want to use the money to set a reward for the butterfly of dreams. As soon as they are in front of the enemy, the demon Meifuku covers them in a cloud to save them from a powerful spell that Konton uses.

Outside of battle, Meifuku tells them that she is hunting Konton for murdering her father and keeping his clam, which he now uses as a shield. His goal is to avenge him, but he feels helpless and weak. Soon, as they speak, Konton and his servants catch up with them. During the fight, he wounds Setsuna and disarms Moroha, but Meifuku acts as a shield for Towa, so she defies the attack. Between them they manage to defeat the demon. Despite the help of the ghost of Meioju and the other two princesses, Konton manages to escape. At least Meifuku's father manages to rest in peace.

Analysis: Spirit of Perseverance, Spirit of Improvement

Hanyo no Yashahime he once again welcomes the prediction of the Tree of Ages: Despite their initial rejection, fate repeatedly involves the three young women in the fight against Kirinmaru's servants. In its ninth episode, the series masterfully combines all the ingredients of its predecessor, offering us a progression in the plot as well as a parallel story, the protagonists grow and their relationship deepens. Adapting and integrating all of these elements into a single, cohesive and entertaining episode re-emphasizes the quality of the story.

On the other hand winks Inuyasha They continue with Meijou's appearance. The story of the child - a child in demonic terms - who persecutes his father's murderer also brings us the memory of Shippo. However, not even Takechiyo gets the parallel because there is only one Shippo (and please let him show up now!).

It is also interesting that the chapter wants to focus on courage and overcoming fear, telling us the tender and terrible story of Meifuku, who sees himself weak but does not stop pursuing the demon who murdered his father.

Other random comments

The dose of humor and the relationship between the three protagonists expand their background a little more, as goes without saying in every new episode. There is no doubt that blood unites twin sisters, but Moroha still sees herself in isolation and regrets this loneliness.

An attractive variant Hanyo no Yashahime can be seen that the spectrum of Yokai Japanese is more than exploited by the classic saga. The series has decided to expand the repertoire and examine the demons of the continent, even making references to ancient magic. Here, too, the idea is very clear: drink from the roots and offer novelties.

Finally, it's worth commenting on the moment Moroha is chatting with making the explanations that we all already know will become Beniyasha. Konton's attack looks like a warning: let's not explain too much! Is it a conscious attempt to break this stereotype or is it a wise accident?

Chapter 10: "The Golden and Silver Rainbow Pearls"

Hanyo no Yashahime opens its tenth chapter with the three protagonists in a new Jyubei mission. The demon brothers Kinka and Ginka destroyed a village because they fight each other over the area every day, so there is a reward. Once they find them they explain that in their tribe the body is born with two heads and one must devour the other so that they cannot stop fighting until one of them dies. Soon they discover that Setsuna and Towa own the gold and silver "rainbow pearls", so they withdraw and plan to steal them later.

Lured by some farmers who believe that the young women have freed them from the demons, they have the brothers who fetch the pearls and flee. In their hiding place, they pay their respects to the leader of the tribe, Joka, but she decides to betray them and take them in along with the pearls.

Unexpectedly, Kinka rebels against Joka to save her brother. Then Setsuna and Towa catch up with them. Setsuna watches the agony of the siblings and restores fuzzy memories. To understand better, she teams up with Kinka to defeat Joka. Both brothers die in battle, although they defeat the leader of the tribe.

Analysis: brothers

Hanyo no Yashahime reaches its tenth chapter with a story that cannot leave us indifferent. The story of the twin brothers is a mirror for Towa and Setsuna, so that the latter regains fragments of their lost memories. What Setsuna experiences is a catharsis of Kinka's pain, and far from fleeing, she makes the decision to go deeper and understand the meaning through the fight. As the heir to Sesshomaru's pride, however, she keeps her thoughts to herself.

In general, this output should not mislead us as the parallel stories also provide data. The origin of the golden and silver "rainbow pearls" lies in the tribe of the Ka demons, and Sesshomaru seems to be the one who would have taken them away.

Silver and Gold

The duality of the brothers Kinka and Ginka is interesting on many levels. We could expand through the coherence and cohesion of overlapping elements, suggestions, and meanings.

First, the relationship between the mutual necessity of existence, love and hate and constant struggle reminds us of the contrast between ying and yang, the concepts of Taoism that are so universal today. However, they also embody nature's sharpest view of survival, devouring, or eating. There are two wills that are destined to face each other in order to live, and love arises in the courage to survive each other.

They serve as mirrors for the twin sisters, who have also suggested a natural predisposition to fight to the death between twin demons. Both question themselves and discover their own feelings by watching the drama of these brothers. In this way they, especially Setsuna, manage to deepen the bond that binds them.

Finally, there is a careful relationship with the names relationship Y. gin, Gold and silver, with pearls. It's not the first time I've seen this name game with brothers, not necessarily twins: Ginro and Kinro off Dr. Stone.

Finally

Hanyo no Yashahime expands and enriches his universe of characters in the course of the story. In Chapter 9, the continuation of the main plot is combined with a parallel story that seamlessly integrates several elements. The result is an entertaining chapter that warns us: the arc advances when we least expect it, for fate surprises viewers and half-demon princesses alike.

Chapter 10 deals with the fraternal relationship. The story of Kinka and Ginka is a mirror for Towa and Setsuna, especially the latter. In addition, we get slight references to the pearls and sesshoumaru. Yet the heart of the episode lies in the depth of the drama between these brothers who love and hate each other to death. By the way, was anyone reminded of the origin of the avatar in? The legend of Korra?
