Last May, the executive producer of the Netflix series Yasuke he expected that the future plans for the anime would be very extensive and that there would be much more than just an extension of the second season. Today the Shogakukan publishing house finally presented one of the projects of the MAPPA series, this is a manga adaptation.
The news comes directly from the publisher, who a few moments ago confirmed the start of serialization in the monthly Spirit from July 27th. The manga slavishly follows the story of the author LeSean Thomas, and it will be taken care of by the young mangaka Satoshi Okunishi, his first experience in the industry.
Yasuke is a historical anime with fantasy components, written by LeSean Thomas and based on the story of the first black samurai in the service of Oda Nobunaga. You can read the synopsis below: “In a feudal Japan full of ‘Mechs and magic ravaged by war, the greatest known ronin, Yasuke, fights for a peaceful existence after a violent past. But when a nearby village becomes the center of a social upheaval caused by the belligerent daimyos, Yasuke must take his sword and escort a mysterious child who appears to be the target of dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords.“.
The Netflix series has received mixed reviews, but despite all the streaming giants seems inclined to sign the contract for the production of season 2. For more details on the anime, please refer to our review on Yasuke.
