A post on the Instagram account for the live-action film adaptation of the manga by Kaiu Shirai and illustrated by Posuka Demizu, Yakusoku no never land ((The promised Neverland) announced that the work has more than 26 million copies in circulation worldwide.

Shirai and Demizu started publishing the manga in the magazine Weekly shonen jump from the publisher Shueisha in August 2016 and finalized in June 2020. The publisher published the nineteenth compilation volume on July 19, followed by the twentieth and final on October 2.

The piece inspired an anime adaptation that was released in January 2019. A live-action film with minor changes to the plot will be released on December 18th. A second season of the anime has been confirmed to premiere in October 2020, but due to the current health situation in Japan, it will now be released in January 2021.
