Yamada started publishing the manga in the magazine Dengeki Bunko Magazine from the publisher Kadokawa in August 2016 and publishes a new chapter every two months. The publisher published the third compilation volume in August 2019. This manga saga adapts the “Arc Alicization”, which is contained in volumes 9-18 of the original light novels.

Kirito suddenly wakes up in a huge and fantastic forest full of towering trees. In his search for clues that indicate where he is, he meets a boy who seems to know him. It appears to be a simple NPC, but its conversation and depth show that it could be human. As they search for the boy’s parents together, a memory echoes in his mind, a memory of his own childhood, in which this boy and another girl appear, who also has golden hair and a name that he should never forget: Alice.
