During an information panel at the event Jump Festa ’21, Luffy’s voice actress, Mayumi Tanaka Read a message from the creator of the literary franchise One piece, Eiichiro Oda. Part of the message included rapturous praise for the hit manga written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge, Kimetsu no yaiba. The message said:

“”Hello Jump Festa viewers! It sure was a tough year, wasn’t it? I am sure that there are many people who are severely affected by COVID-19. It felt like something out of a dream, and yet people from many industries worked hard to make people smile. I want to applaud these people. That was the year I feel this way.

In Jump, Kimetsu no Yaiba was really amazing. I enjoyed how he was able to save so many people’s feelings. That’s how I like a manga, it kind of touched me!“.

For his part, Koyoharu Gotouge began to publish the manga in the magazine Weekly shonen jump from the publisher Shueisha in February 2016 and finalized in May 2020. The publisher published the twenty-second compilation volume on October 2 and the twenty-third and final volume on December 4. The work recently reached a circulation of 120 million copies, and its final volume exceeded 2,855 million copies sold between November 30 and December 6, 2020, the all-time record of Oricon throughout its history.

The manga inspired a 26-part anime adaptation by the studios. Ufotable, Headed by Haruo Sotozaki and scripts written by the studios themselves and released in April 2019. Later a film called Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha henwas released in Japanese theaters on October 16.

Synopsis of Kimetsu no Yaiba

In the Taisho era in Japan, Tanjirou Kamado is a kind and intelligent boy who lives in the mountains with his family. Tanjirou became the head of his family after the death of his father and makes constant trips to the village at the foot of the mountain to sell firewood and charcoal.

However, his life changes when one day when he returns home after a night out, he discovers that his family has been killed by a demon. Tanjirou and her sister Nezuko are the only survivors now, but she has been turned into a demon, though surprisingly she still shows emotion and appears to have a sense of reason. After meeting Giyuu Tomioka, a demon hunter; Tanjirou He decides to become a demon hunter in order to hunt down his family’s killer and find a way to get Nezuko back to normal.
