The Judges’ Committee of the sixty-sixth edition of the Shogakukan Manga Awards ((Shogakukan Manga Awards) revealed the nominees for this year’s edition. Each winning title will be awarded a bronze statuette and a prize of one million yen (approximately $ 9,000). The winners will be announced on January 19, 2021.
Best manga for boys
- Duel Master, written and illustrated by Shigenobu Matsumoto and serialized in the magazine Coro Coro Comics (Shogakukan).
- Chocolat no Mahou ((The magic of chocolate), written and illustrated by Rino Mizuho and serialized in the magazine Ciao (Shogakukan).
Best Shonen Manga
- Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san ((Tease Master Takagi-san), written and illustrated by Souichirou Yamamoto and serialized in the magazine Monthly Shonen Sunday (Shogakukan).
- Shakunetsu Kabaddi ((Burning kabaddi), written and illustrated by Hajime Musashino and serialized in the application Manga ONE (Shogakukan).
- Chainsaw man, written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto and serialized in the magazine Weekly shonen jump (Shueisha).
Best shojo manga
- Kuzu to Kemomimi ((Scum and animal ears), written and illustrated by Shippo Sugi and serialized in the magazine & Flower (Shogakukan).
- Yuzuki-sanchi no Yon Kyoudai ((The four brothers of the Yuzuki household), written and illustrated by Shizuki Fujisawa and serialized in the magazine Betsucomi (Shogakukan).
- Koi wo Shiranai Bokutachi wa ((We don’t know love yet.), written and illustrated by Minami Mizuno and serialized in the magazine Bessatsu Margaret (Shueisha).
Best general manga
- The destruction of the dead demon, written and illustrated by Inio Asano and serialized in the magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits (Shogakukan).
- Promise Cinderella, written and illustrated by Oreko Tachibana and serialized in the application Manga ONE (Shogakukan).
- Hakozume: Koban Joshi no Gyakushuu ((Hakozome: counterattack by a woman from the police box), written and illustrated by Miko Yasu and serialized in the magazine tomorrow (Kodansha).
The editorial Shogakukan has given these awards since 1956 (starting with the projects launched in 1955). The manga was one of last year’s winners Neko, Hajimemashita, Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san, Nagi no Oitoma, Aoashi Y. Kaguya-sama: love is war.
