Just two weeks after the literary franchise based on the manga, written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisenannounced that more than 20 million copies were in circulation. Jujutsu Kaisen rose from 8.5 million copies in October 2020 to 25 million (unsold, but also digital). That means the series has increased 294% since the premiere of its animated adaptation.
Akutami started publishing the manga in the magazine Weekly shonen jump from the publisher Shueisha in March 2018. The publisher released the thirteenth compiled volume on October 13, followed by the fourteenth on January 4 in Japan.
