The Jujutsu Kaisen final it is near now. Running on Weekly Shonen Jump since 2018, Gege Akutami’s manga has now pulled the strings and all its characters have gathered for the grand finale. The series could therefore end this year, as Akutami himself confirmed a few months ago.
There Final battle against Kenjaku and Sukuna however, it won’t arrive immediately, and not just for plot reasons. In fact, Jujutsu Kaisen has been on hiatus a lot lately: after the long, multi-week hiatus in 2021, Weekly Shonen Jump has given the mangaka plenty of 1- or 2-week breaks to keep his health from deteriorating. For this reason, another break is now in sight.
The first leaks of Weekly Shonen Jump #21-22 also brought the progress of Jujutsu Kaisen 221, but the chapter on the last page informs the readers of an upcoming stop. Jujutsu Kaisen takes a week off, which, however, is doubled due to the presence of Golden Week. Essentially, the next chapter will not be available on Sunday April 30th or Sunday May 7th.
The manga from Jujutsu Kaisen will return permanently on Sunday May 14, 2023 on manga plus with chapter 222, which could be the chapter that will surely start the last fight planned by Gege Akutami. We will therefore have to wait longer than expected, but the hope is that the author can complete the latest saga without having to strain too much and risking his health.
Akutami Gege’s Jujutsu Kaisen is taking a break in the next Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #23.
