The manga series written and illustrated by Iro Aida, Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kunexceeded 4.5 million copies in circulation.

Aida started publishing the manga in the magazine Monthly G fantasy from the publisher Square enix in June 2014. The publisher published the thirteenth volume on May 27th.

The work inspired an anime adaptation produced by the studios with twelve episodes. lark, Led by Masaomi Andou and scripts from Yasuhiro Nakanishi, released in January 2020. So far there has been no evidence of a second season.
