The three-year hiatus of manga Hunter X Hunter they had taken away the reader’s hope of someday reviewing the continued adventures of Gon and his companions. Thankfully, Togashi has returned to work on the series at a great production pace, but apparently the mangaka had really considered putting work aside in the past.

In a 2016 interview that was just published, Togashi stated in a frank conversation with Masashi Kishimoto, the author of Naruto, that he intends to devote himself to a new manga. Particularly, a shonen match where the clashes took shape around a deck of cardspicking up a bit of what happened in the Greed Island saga, still considered one of the best in all of Hunter x Hunter history.

However, given the tremendous success Yu-Gi-Oh continued to achieve, Togashi decided to give up this desire. “I’ll tell you what I’d like to do a card battle manga! But the timing isn’t on my side given Kazuki Takahashi’s Yu-Gi-Oh franchise. But it’s been years since its release, so it could be good.these are the words of Togashi in 2016, who then reiterated how much fun it was to go beyond the usual narrative schemes to invent a card game with rules and a totally original system.
